Sports chiropractic
vs family chiropractic
Both approaches are delivered by our AHPRA-registered chiropractors. The difference is in focus, technique selection and rehabilitation goals.
Built around performance & return to sport
Sports chiropractic combines musculoskeletal assessment with sport-specific biomechanics, load management and structured rehabilitation. The goal is not just pain relief — it is restoring full function and returning you to your sport safely.
- Acute and overuse sports injuries across all sports
- Disc injuries, shoulder, knee, hip and ankle complaints
- Biomechanical and movement analysis
- Sport-specific return-to-play protocols
- Dry needling, taping and soft tissue therapy
- Performance assessment even without injury
Ideal for: recreational and competitive athletes, runners, gym-goers, team sport players, CrossFit athletes and anyone with a performance goal.

- Children — back pain, postural concerns, sports complaints
- Teenagers — growing spine, scoliosis, adolescent injuries
- Adults — back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica
- Desk workers — tech neck, postural pain, ergonomic advice
- Seniors — gentle low-force techniques for degeneration

What happens at
your first appointment
Every appointment follows the same evidence-based structure, regardless of whether you are a first-time patient or returning for a follow-up.
Thorough history
A detailed account of your complaint — when it started, what aggravates or eases it, and your relevant medical and activity history. This shapes the entire assessment and management plan.
Physical assessment
Postural, movement and orthopaedic testing. Neurological screening where indicated. Sport-specific functional testing for athletic presentations. We identify the source of your complaint — not just the site of pain.
Explanation of findings
Your chiropractor explains what they found in plain language — what is driving your symptoms, what is likely to help, and what a realistic recovery timeline looks like. No jargon.
Treatment
In most cases, hands-on treatment begins in the same session. This may include spinal manipulation, joint mobilisation, soft tissue therapy, dry needling or taping — tailored to your specific presentation.
Your plan
A recommended number of sessions, at what frequency, with clear goals and milestones. Home exercises or self-management strategies are given at your first visit. You are in control of your care at every step.

Common questions
Do I need a referral?
No. Chiropractors are primary contact practitioners registered with AHPRA. You can book directly for any presentation — sports injury, back pain, neck pain, family care or pregnancy — without a GP referral.
What is the difference between sports and family chiropractic?
Sports chiropractic focuses on injury assessment, biomechanical analysis and return-to-sport rehabilitation for athletic presentations. Family chiropractic uses age-appropriate techniques for patients across all life stages — children through to seniors. Both are delivered by our AHPRA-registered chiropractors.
Is chiropractic safe for children?
Yes. We use modified, gentle techniques appropriate to each age group — not the same techniques used for adults. Our practitioners are trained in paediatric assessment and management is always tailored to the individual child's presentation and age.
Will I receive treatment on my first visit?
In most cases, yes. After the clinical assessment and explanation of findings, hands-on treatment typically begins in the same session where appropriate.
Can I claim on private health insurance?
Yes. Chiropractic is covered under extras with most major Australian health funds. We have HICAPS at both clinics for on-the-spot rebate claiming. The rebate amount depends on your fund and level of cover.
How quickly can I return to sport after injury?
This depends entirely on your injury. Mild muscle strains may allow return within days. More significant injuries require structured progressive loading over weeks or months. Your chiropractor will give you clear, criteria-based milestones — not arbitrary timelines.
Is chiropractic safe during pregnancy?
Yes. We provide safe chiropractic assessment and management throughout all trimesters. Low-force techniques are used throughout. Common presentations include back pain, pelvic girdle pain and sciatica.
Do you accept WorkCover?
Yes. We accept WorkCover NSW referrals for chiropractic. Your treating doctor or case manager will provide a referral and we bill WorkCover directly.
