Our Approach
Our remedial massage therapists perform a targeted assessment before every session — identifying postural faults, muscle imbalances and the specific structures contributing to your pain. Your treatment is tailored accordingly, not a generic hour-long rub-down.
Postural analysis, palpation and range-of-motion testing to identify the specific muscles and trigger points contributing to your presentation.
Deep tissue, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, lymphatic drainage and sports massage techniques selected for your specific condition.
Stretching routines, foam rolling protocols and postural correction strategies to maintain the results between sessions.
Common Questions
What is the difference between remedial massage and deep tissue massage?
Deep tissue massage is a technique (firm pressure targeting deeper layers of muscle). Remedial massage is a therapeutic approach that may include deep tissue techniques but also involves assessment, trigger point work and clinical reasoning specific to your presentation.
Does private health insurance cover remedial massage?
Yes. Most private health extras policies cover remedial massage performed by a qualified therapist with an approved provider number. We have HICAPS on-site for immediate claiming at your appointment.
How often should I have remedial massage?
This depends on your condition. Acute presentations may benefit from weekly sessions initially. Maintenance for chronic conditions is typically fortnightly or monthly. Your therapist will recommend a treatment frequency at your first appointment.
Will it hurt?
Remedial massage can involve some discomfort when working on tight muscles and trigger points — typically described as a "good hurt." Communicate your comfort level throughout and your therapist will adjust accordingly.
Can I have remedial massage if I'm pregnant?
Pregnancy massage is a specialised treatment offered separately. Please see our Relaxation & Pregnancy Massage page for more information on our prenatal and postnatal massage services.
How long is a remedial massage session?
Initial sessions are typically 60 minutes. Subsequent sessions may be 45–60 minutes depending on the treatment area and presentation. We also offer 90-minute extended sessions for full-body treatment or complex presentations.
